DESCRIPTION

Improv College is delighted to welcome Katy Schutte, visiting from the UK, to teach a pair of in-person workshops in Montreal.

Fly a jet, drive a mega-robot, stroll through verdant gardens or throw a can of beer to your housemate. Learn how to create environments and objects that the audience will really see and remember as if your blank stage was a film!

Use imagined surroundings to find out about your character. Discover the secrets to recalling where you and the rest of your team 'put' everything and never walk through a mime table again.

There is a one hour break for lunch at Noon.

TEACHER BIO

Katy Schutte is an award-winning writer, improviser and teaching artist with an MA in Folklore Studies.

Katy has performed and taught improvisation in thirty countries across five continents. She is a Head Teacher, Curriculum Writer and main stage Director for Hoopla, the UK’s biggest improv school. Katy authored The Improviser's Way: A Long Form Workbook, published by Nick Hern Books. She co-created climate hopepunk touring show We Built This City on Rock and Coal and improvises in Brand New Musical, Hell Yeah! and the Pretend Company, among others. She was a longstanding member of The Maydays (2004-2022) and co-founded The Improv Place / International Improv Station (2019-2021).
