DESCRIPTION

Improvising scenes can be a satisfying snack – we'll make a meal of it by crafting cohesive collaborative storylines into something larger. Transform your improvised storytelling from ingredients (individual scene moments) to a community stone soup (a unified longer narrative). We'll play with Story Structure (beginnings, middles, and ends), Character Perspectives (tensions and breakthroughs), and Mood and Tone (genres, metaphor and meaning, and drama or silliness) within our originally crafted stories.

Suitable for new performers with experience storytelling, performers with experience in montage longform, and as a refresher for longform improvisers.

What you'll explore:

  • Story structure
  • Playing with platforms, plots, & tropes supporting your partner and yourself through character roles
  • Constructive entrances and exits
  • Earning the narrative wins and losses
  • Genre-specific scene painting and editing

Every other week, starting Nov 11, you'll be performing in a show on the official Improv College YouTube channel, hosted by your teacher. Not only will you learn new skills but you'll get a chance to try them in a live show four times in front of an audience!

If you choose the Installment payment option, your second payment will be due Nov 15, 2023.
