DESCRIPTION

So much of theatre / movies / television isn't so much about what is being said but what isn't being said. Doing this in improv when we are creating in the moment is a challenge. But bringing subtext to our scenes can elevate our scenes and shows into something magical. It requires deep listening, an understanding of body language, and a vulnerability of performance that can be difficult to capture.

This workshop will explore the idea that the words we say can be made secondary to the feelings and stories we share dancing in between those lines of dialogue. We dig into the theory of communication itself and the relationships between characters, performers, and the audience.

This class is open to any level of performer. The venue is wheelchair accessible.

TEACHER BIO

Vinny Francois has over 25 years experience as a professional improviser in both English and French. He's a founder of the Montreal Improv Theatre, Improv College, Camp Zipzap (an improv camp for adults), and was the Executive Producer of Mprov: The Montreal Improv Festival. Vinny co-created the improv suggestion site, can-i-get-a.com, has performed in Just For Laughs and improv festivals around the world. He currently writes for The Beaverton (Canada's version of The Onion).
